i have a very close friend who loves to gossip. i will admit at the beginning of our relationship i also would love to gossip with this person, however as the years have gone by i’ve frankly gotten sick of it. they recently called to tell me about the latest tea on a mutual friend of ours but it’s not new news to me as i already knew this but choose to keep it to myself. instead of coming cleaning that i already knew, i pretended as if i didn’t know as i knew my friend would be hurt that i didn’t share this information earlier. curious what the right response would’ve been in this situation? should i have come clean or was it okay that i just pretended i didn’t know?
