Ladies of Reddit how long do you take to brush/detangle your hair?

  1. with my natural hair it’d take *forever*. I was so over it so I relaxed my hair and now it takes a minute or so. never been so healthy and long until now

  2. About 10 seconds. My hair is pretty straight, but mostly it’s really short. (Also, it’s purple. For funsies.)

  3. No more than a couple of minutes at most. I detangle in the shower with a wide tooth comb while conditioning. On days when my hair is already dry, I run a detangling brush through it a couple of times as needed and then use my regular brush. I often wear my hair up or in braids, so it doesn’t tangle much unless I’m doing something unusual or wearing it down while being active.

  4. Couple of minutes. Sometimes 10. Never more than that. I have straight hair.

  5. Usually it takes a few minutes, but a week ago I had an incident where my hair got tangled in a comb and it took five hours to comb it out.

  6. get yourself one of those silk lined hair hats to sleep in. it makes things much easier.

  7. A couple minutes.

My hair is naturally wavy, almost curly (2b/2c), but I keep it 1b/1c because it’s easier to maintain, it’s what I get after blow drying. It’s currently bra length.

  8. About ten seconds. It’s thick and slightly wavy, but it never seems to tangle much at all.

  9. I de-tangle a bit in the shower after applying conditioner, mostly to make sure the conditioner gets through all the parts of my hair. So de-tangling after my shower probably only takes about a couple minutes thankfully! I also like keeping my hair just hitting shoulder length which also helps make styling/detangling easy 😄

  10. I dont brush my hair anymore, i used to have hair that went down to my butt and it would tangle and take HOURS to untangle but then i cut it to my shoulders and I haven’t used my brush in soooo long and my hair is still untangled

  11. I put texturizer in my hair to give it more volume, so I spend zero time ever detangling it haha

  12. Less than five minutes. Have curly hair but I don’t like dealing with it so I yank a wide tooth comb through it until most of the knots are gone and go.

  13. My straight/slightly wavy hair takes like a few seconds, not long. It doesn’t really tangle

  14. tangle teezer changed my life lol. used to spend so long working on knots of curls now its so much easier

  15. The fastest way is doing it in the shower with lots of conditioner. Still, I need at least 5 minutes.

  16. 5-10 minutes at least. My hair is fine and curly and somehow the perfect texture to somehow create giant mats in .5 seconds flat.

  17. 5-10 minutes depending on how recently I got it cut. Longer if I’ve been awhile without a haircut.

  18. I comb my hair after washing while it is still wet and has leave-in conditioner in it. Takes about 10 minutes. If it curls (it decides this, not me) then I won’t brush it for three or so days to keep the curl. If it doesn’t, I brush it out the next day.

  19. I don’t brush my hair daily because it’s curly.

It takes less than a minute when I do it in the shower after I have applied conditionner.

  20. I read the question as “lawyers of Reddit” and for a while I was trying to make sense of it lmao

  21. When I was young, I had super long hair and it was a nightmare. I have a pixie cut now and literally don’t need a brush. A little leave-in conditioner combed through with my fingers during a blow dry and it’s done.

  22. Usually nothing too crazy. I have straight, fine hair. But once in a while I’ll go too long without brushing it and it’ll take up to half an hour. It’s frustrating. It gets borderline matted in a day in winter if I’m wearing a scarf and hat.

  23. 5 seconds (at most). I have really short hair (like 2″ long) so I basically just ruffle it until it’s sitting in the way I want

  24. I have thick wavy hair, but only about to my shoulders, so just a few seconds really. And that’s when I brush it. If I’ve been out in the wind I get those tiny knots with just a few hairs, but I usually just wind up breaking them apart.

  25. Probably about 10 minutes. I have long hair almost all the way down my back and it’s wavy. I can brush it and 10 seconds later it’s got tangles. It’s a love hate relationship.

  26. Before bleaching it , it took me 5 min twice a week. Now it is 5 min every single day 🙄

  27. A couple of minutes. I have slightly curly hair. I use the So Cozy Kids Detangler when I get out of the shower. It has helped tremendously with my snarly hair.

  28. My hair is very thick and straight. I don’t brush it ever. I sleep in braids a lot and keep it curly but even if I let it air dry, I don’t brush it.

  29. A few seconds, i brush my hair before showering and us a wide tooth comb in the shower and use Monat detangler đŸ„°

  30. As someone with 5f hair, too fucking long. I’m loccing my hair as soon as I am able to

  31. About 30-45 minutes, I have a lot of hair and it gets tangled quite easily depending on the water I use đŸ„č but I’ve been using this serum called livon which has helped to some extent

  32. ::Cries in 3C hair:: these replies are blowing my mind – I can take two hours detangling my hair and I often need breaks and help.

  33. About 20 seconds. I use a wet brush and a leave in conditioner which helps it glide through more easily

  34. 1-2 hours if I’ve left it curly. It’s 2b/2c, extremely thick and coarse, and also long. I can’t get a comb through it any more so when I style it wavy I don’t brush it at all for about 6 weeks (when I dye my roots), I can only finger comb it weekly under running water. The night before I soak it in extra virgin olive oil, and Cantu kids detangling spray is pretty good.

I’m heat straightening it weekly right now so brushing takes about 10 minutes every other day. I use Denman D81L and D90L but it took me a while to find one that’d go through my hair! Even with these it only gets the top layer so I have to brush in sections.
