  1. I feel like it would have to be Sonia Sotomayor. However, some baseball players would be up there too like Albert Pujols or Alex Rodriguez.

  2. Generational. The Boomers: Julio inglesias or Gloria Estefan. Gen X: Pitbull or Jlo. Gen Z: Bad Bunny.

  3. I don’t know many Americans are Latino. Pedro Pascal is very popular right now.

  4. Danny Trejo was the first that popped into my head, but a lot of the other posts here might be more universally famous

  5. Cardi B, Jenny from the block, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Mariah Carey

Cheech Marin but I think he says Chicano more than Latino

  6. Jennifer Lopez and Selena Gomez generally but Jenna Ortega is probably the one with the most buzz at the moment. Bad Bunny probably comes in right after them.

  7. I mean definitely not the most known nationally but for New England you could make an argument for David Ortiz aka Big Papi. He’s one of those sports figures everyone knows do to his presence in everything media from 04-19. The line “This is our f***ing city ” after the marathon bombing will forever be a classic

  8. For now it’s probably Jennifer Lopez since she’s been famous enough that all generations have at least heard of her (as opposed to Roberto Clemente or Selena Gomez). Ted Cruz and AoC are probably close behind.

However, there’s always a pocket of the country that really doesn’t pay any attention to politics and wouldn’t be able to name anyone in office except for the president and his most recent opponent. So until we get a Hispanic president, J-Lo is probably the most famous.

  9. There’s a lot. Not sure how to determine which is most famous. Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Lin Manuel Miranda, Rita Moreno, Bad Bunny, AOC, Justice Sotomayor, Cesar Chavez, Roberto Clemente, Pedro Pascal. That’s the 10 that came to me first.

  10. I think you’ve gotten good answers for Americans of Latin American descent. If you mean specifically people born in Latin America: I’d say Shakira.

  11. Based on some of these responses, I feel like I should throw in my buddy Javier.

  12. I think J-Lo by far…I am a random older white dude, who is unfamiliar with her music, but I have known of her for probably 30 years. Not to mention , she is the sort of mega celebrity, that is constanly on the covers of magazines, or front pages of the internets.

  13. Bad Bunny for younger people. Maybe Selena Gomez for slightly older than younger people. Probably Jennifer Lopez for middle aged and older people?

  14. I suppose the “OG’s” are Desi Arnaz and Roberto Clemente.

Gloria Estefan and Selena walked so Jennifer Lopez could run and she’s had a helluva run.

Today, I suppose AOC has to be in the conversation.

  15. I feel duty-bound to say, Selena Quintanilla. My dad was a HUGE fan. She was gonna be the first Mexican Superstar in America.
After that, I would say, Jeniffer Lopez. (I’m so old that I remember her a few years before she changed her stage name to J-lo) She was up and coming and shot to the top when she played Selena.

    Lin-Manuel Meranda

    Ricky Martin
    George Lopez.
