Curious about the different bachelor party dynamics you see in the mid-30s. I am 34 myself. My only good friend and some friends of my wife’s are tying the knot this year. In the past 10 years I have been to a few BPs and they always seem to be either one way or the other:

1) we’re going to get really drunk and drink the whole time, try our best to find women (regardless of our (the attendees’) relationship status), strip clubs, and just do everything we can to get T&A in our face and we’ll never talk about it again, etc.

2) there is a plan of sorts. We are doing thing A (shooting, biking etc.) On day 1 and maybe thing B on day 2 and we’ll just eat some good food, drink maybe some bud in the downtime but lets just have fun.

What has been your experience with BPs in your 30s? I attended a #1 a few weeks ago, it was exhausting and I found myself opting out of a few experiences being married/dad and all that.

  1. Last one I went to I was 34. A bunch of us went fishing and drank beer. Nothing crazy. Most of us were married at the time, so it wasn’t a booze fest, and no women allowed. We basically congratulated him and hung out together.

  2. I was married at like 35. Bachelor party was at Emporium in SF. We got hammered and played games. It was great.

  3. Last one I was at I was the oldest there. We let the kids go off and piss money away on strippers while the married guys went to a tavern nearby. That is the best experience I have had, where there isn’t a set rule everyone must be together the entire time.

I’ve been told numerous times by my wife she wouldn’t care if I went to a titty club but I never do, especially with anyone I know who is drinking. That is how bullshit stories start and bad gas travels fast in a small town.

My overall best experience was in my 20’s before cell phones. Paintball all day, then changed at a hotel we were crashing at, one party went to the titty bar, me and another guy went to a tavern next door and drank til they were broke or empty. The other guy with me was uber religious and found the idea disgusting. I was happy to be his wingman elsewhere since he did the same for me at mine, when a guy was told “no strippers” and hired a stripper so I left and went to a bar and uber religious followed me.

  4. It didn’t turn out well as I was the oldest in the room. Just couldn’t hang with the young crowd and what they’re into wasn’t my thing either.

  5. I went to probably three in my 30s and they all kicked off with an activity of some kind (bow and “arrow” fighting, ice hockey, axe throwing) followed by food and a lot of booze

  6. Last one I went to was for a bachelor in his mid 30s. 8 guys attended, probably half were his age and half were some older friends he had who were in their 60s, all were married except the bachelor. We played an afternoon round of golf, went to dinner at a nearby casino, hung out at the casino and gambled for a couple hours, went to a strip club for about an hour, everyone was home by midnight. The bachelor was the only one who got shitfaced drunk by the end of the night. It was pretty tame but everyone seemed to have a good time. My own bachelor party was pretty similar to this.

  7. Last one was last September when I was 35. I was the lone Canadian and the rest were Brits. We all live in Mexico but I had to fly to meet them in Mexico City.

The groom was there (only one I knew) and we met up in Chili’s at the airport in Mexico City before a short flight to Puerto Escondido.

They were feeding the groom shots after they’d already been drinking all afternoon and in the 30ish minutes we were sitting there, he downed 3 litres of beer and 2 or 3 shots of mezcal.

Could see boarding the plane that he was hammered and I was sitting beside him. He passed out as soon as we sat down. As soon as we took off he woke up and told me he was going to be sick. I grabbed a plastic folder from the seat in front of me and stuck it in his face.

When he was finished, one of the other guys grabbed the bag telling us he’d get rid of it and started waving it around in the air and scaring the shit out of a random girl he was seated beside. I think if it was a US airline they would have banned him from future but it was VivaAerobus (low cost Mexican airline).

I was actually dreading the rest of the weekend after that but it was significantly more chill, spent at the beach and casually drinking. The nights out were boozy but a step down from the first meeting.

Going to another this year, renting a cabin and golfing very excited for it
