My wife gave birth 7 months ago. She had a level 2 laceration so we didn’t do anything for awhile and then eased back into it. She also has an IUD now, if that matters. Anyway, since we’ve started being intimate again, she has issues with her hips/legs where they start to get painful, shake, and hard to hold up. I was wondering if anyone had the same or similar issues.

Yes, she’s going to ask her doctor when she sees her again.

My guess is that her hip flexors are weak and tight. I’m not a physical therapist, only a trainer, but I was going to have her to do some lower body strength training and stretches. Examples of strength training: glute bridges, abductions, planks. Examples of stretches: adductors, hip flexors.

  1. She should do physiotherapy with a specialist on the pelvic floor. When she is at the doctor she should ask about it.

  2. I’m seconding pelvic PT, get an actual pelvic floor specialist. They will take care of hips too as part of resupporting the pelvic floor. Having a 10 lb baby that literally cracked my pelvis I can tell you, the things a specialist can do are nothing short of miraculous.

I understand entirely the struggle with the legs getting shaky and weak, in the mean time try spooning sex or prone bone. Both are easy on her legs.
