The title kinda says it all but here goes. I (21f) had a service dog that passed away a few months ago. I’ve been saving like crazy for a memorial tattoo and a new pup. My partner (24NB) and I live together. But our AC broke not too long ago. It was fixed but our bill is way higher than expected. We live in the south so we kinda need an AC. My appointment is on Saturday and the bill showed up yesterday. I wasn’t expecting it to be so high and I think it might just be better to cancel my appointment but my partner says not to since I’ve been saving from every gig I get for this. They say they can handle it but I feel so bad. So help? Do I cancel and make my partner feel bad but we have our needs met? Or do I go through with it and make my partner happy that I’m finally doing what I’ve wanted to for so long but as a result risk not getting this bill paid?

  1. I have 8 tattoos and I would worry about AC before a tattoo appointment any day of the week. No need for you or them to get into a financial ditch over getting a tattoo.

  2. You have to set your own financial priorities. If part of that is being reliant upon your partner I wish you the best of luck

  3. If money is that tight, it’s time to prioritize. Figure out what expenses you have and what is the most important to be paid. A tattoo is something you want, but you can do it anytime.

  4. Always pay your bills before getting things that you dont “really” need. I mean i get that the tattoo is important, but you can always get it later.

  5. Your teaching yourself the importance of financial obligations and sacrifice. That’s great and your partner will probably be more proud of you if you stick to your guns. That’s very nice of him to offer, you’ll get the tattoo sooner or later.

Definitely don’t feel bad if you do get the tattoo.

  6. Well if you partner can handle it, can they? Don’t be so quick to brush off a gift just because you feel bad. If your partner want to do a nice thing for you, it’s okay to let them.
