Could be any continent, even North America as long as it’s not the US. For me my favorite city on my own continent would be Rome and my favorite American city is Boston, but I haven’t been to any cities besides Boston, Portland ME and NYC. My favorite Asian city would be Istanbul, cause it’s the only Asian city I have ever been to (technically it’s both Europe and Asia lol).

  1. Guangzhou – Ancestral home

Hong Kong – Kinda like GZ but more free and betterdeveloped

Macau – I think it’s a better version of Vegas

    Singapore – Futuristic

Osaka – One of my favorite cities in Japan. Good food and it had a nicer vibe to it than Tokyo for me.

  2. Stockholm. I’ve been to it like 5 times at this point, and you can do a weekend trip there from the east coast (at least NYC). Take a redeye on Thursday night and fly back on Sunday.

It has a perfect mix of old school architecture/history, beautiful women that like to have fun, great food, and traditional European culture. If I could get a Swedish visa, I’d move there immediately.

  3. I really liked Lucern and Lausanne.

    Edinburgh is amazing.

    Montreal is pretty neat.

My favorite is Rome though, but you said you have already been.

  4. I’d probably go with Kyoto. Has more character and atmosphere than Tokyo, IMO.

  5. Florence, Italy
I fell in love with everything about it, and wished I had planned more days there on my trip.

  6. Tossup between London and Budapest.

London is obvious. Amazing global city, tons of history. Culturally a breeze for an American to navigate.

Budapest is just steeped in a very different sort of history. And has incredible food. Amazing architecture. Friendly people. And excellent beer and wine.

  7. Story time: when I visited Istanbul, I arrived at around midnight (after taking a ten-hour bus) and my hotel was cash-only, so I wandered around for another hour looking for an ATM, which sounds miserable, but everywhere I went I saw shops still open and cats hanging out and I immediately realized I was going to love this city.

Istanbul had great food, awe-inspiring architecture, adorable cats, the best walking tour I’ve ever taken, and incredible public transit (go Istanbulkart!). I can’t wait to go back.

  8. Merida. Amazing place, beyond gorgeous. The people were amazing. And beyond all that, it’s the place I proposed to my wife.

  9. Dublin was amazing. If you count super small communities there is a small town in Wales called Llangollen that is gorgeous.

  10. Luxembourg, the city center is surrounded by a river valley on almost every side with old castle walls going up the side of the valley, which makes it like a little island which is super cool. Lots of cool old architecture, and all of the public transport is free.

  11. Barcelona. Did 17 days all over western Europe and wasn’t originally too hyped for Barcelona (compared to other places we went) but it completely blew me away.

  12. Been to almost 60 countries, here are some favorites:

    Lisbon Portugal

    Kas Turkey

    Istanbul Turkey

    Georgetown Malaysia

    Sydney Australia

    Edinburgh, Scotland

    Rome, Italy

    Split, Croatia
