i saw some people on this sub sometimes say it’s a turn off or something you shouldn’t do to: joke if you’re “not funny” (what is the definition of funny anyway? also this doesn’t include making offensive jokes) or be excited (in general or about your passions idk) or emotionally open, or do anything that i don’t know how to encompass in a word other than the “weird kid stuff” i forgot the examples i came here to say.. im sorry my brain is like this for some reason 😃

is it really a turn off or something wrong you’re doing or a bad move or something that’ll “repel” people? because otherwise i’ll be masking. and this also makes me feel very bad because it reminds me of the times when people bullied me. im trying to regain my confidence in myself and my personality and not try to bend myself in (which turns me into a robot-like personality without my actual individuality and personality)

im 99.9% sure im not neurotypical (i am not diagnosed) and when i hear about an online nd friend making masking his personality it honestly sounds miserable to me (additionally it sounds like it’ll affect me mentally and give me burnout so easily)

this just isn’t right..but why are people saying it? i saw some people advising others here to stop or tone down doing things that i think are very harmless. which disappoints me bc if some people will be *that* turned off by your different personality why would you want them? this has given me a bit of self doubt
