I’m a 35M and 5 foot 7 and about 215. I don’t know what to put for body type. I’m not huge so I don’t feel like I should put big and beautiful or heavyset. But would about average be right either?

  1. Everyone’s anatomy is different so it’s hard to paint this too broadly. For example I’m your age, 6ft and a few years ago I weighed 230. I looked fat, my gut was a nice shelf for my snacks when sitting at my desk. My face looked fat and I was muffin topping out of my jeans like crazy and was getting those dreaded comments about filling in as I age. Yet I worked with some other guys, same height or a little shorter and same weight as I was and they looked normal where I had to lose a significant amount of weight before my body appeared normal.

  2. Without seeing a picture of you, unless you have a lot of muscle mass and/or hold your fat perfectly spread out, I would classify you as heavyset based on your height and weight.

  3. I would go by BMI. In your case you score a 33 (>30 is obese) but perhaps you have a disproportionate level of muscle mass in which case BMI becomes less accurate as a metric.

  4. Just put a clear photo of yourself so that people get a good idea of your body type. I.e., with a photo of you standing in front of a sight or something.

That’ll make it clear to everyone your size, and it won’t come across as an insecurity the same way it would if you mention it in your bio.

  5. Unless you’re a hardcore bodybuilder you are obese so put whatever option is closest to that.
