  1. I’ve gone from Alaska to Virginia. It had it’s ups and downs… it was _metric ton_ of driving.

  2. I’ve had a couple long ones. I live in southern Indiana, once went up to Michigan, then over to DC, then to Virginia Beach before coming back to Indiana. The other I went from southern Indiana over to Denver, up and over to Mount Rushmore before coming back home.

  3. LA to Bend Oregon then to Providence, RI via Indianapolis. I think it was something like 3000 miles.

  4. I assume you’re talking about driving. These are the exact same distance, but from Montgomery to both DC and San Antonio.

  5. I’ve gone coast to coast once and multiple trips from the west coast to the Midwest and back.

  6. New Mexico to British Columbia. Almost 3500 miles round trip I believe.

  7. With a group. Left Texas drove thru New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and back making stops to camp and hike along the way.

  8. Does tagging along on a band tour count?

    6 weeks, 10,000 miles.

    Seattle -> Spokane -> (Missoula) -> (Gillette, WY)-> Sioux Falls -> Twin Cities -> (Madison, WI) -> Chicago -> Ann Arbor -> Cleveland -> (Pittsburgh) -> Jamestown, NY, -> New Hampshire -> Boston -> Connecticut -> NYC -> Philadelphia -> Nashville -> New Orleans -> Austin -> (Dallas) -> Denver -> (Las Vegas) -> (Barstow) -> Los Angeles -> San Francisco -> Sacramento -> Eureka -> Portland -> Olympia -> Seattle

Each city in a parentheses is a city that had no show, no family or friends visiting arranged. Just passing through.

  9. DC to Miami in one sitting. I also drove back because I found out the friend I went with was NOT a good driver

  10. As a kiddo, my grandparents took me on a civil war tour, of sorts. It went something like DC – Lexington – Memphis – Vicksburg – Chattanooga – Gatlinburg – DC. I seem to recall a lot of Perkins restaurants.

  11. Moving from Mobile, Alabama, to Green River, Wyoming. With a U-Haul towing a VW Beetle. Another adventure in moving!

  12. San jose, CA to Sammamish, WA. About 15-16 hrs each direction, straight shots, stopping only for gas.

  13. I was a kid at the time but my maternal grandparents, my mother, and I all drove from Arizona to Georgia in an RV! and then we met up with my dad there and my parents and I drove back. I remember it being a lot of fun! I remember it taking like three days almost to drive through Texas.

  14. My longest one way was probably East TN to Western CO. (1,600 miles). I ended up doing two round trips.

  15. I’ve driven from Seattle to the New Jersey Shore twice. As a kid our family drove from San Antonio to Quebec City and back –5000 miles.

  16. Longest I’ve driven by myself in a single day: Ann Arbor, Michigan to Philadelphia suburbs– 550+miles over about 9 hours. I’ve done similar distances a few other times, but I’m pretty sure that’s still the record.

Most in a week is probably about 1200 miles.

  17. Midcoast Maine to Baltimore. Nothing crazy. Though I do routinely drive from NYC to Maine or vice versa.

  18. Almost 7000 miles. Wisconsin to North Dakota to Winnipeg to Banff to Vancouver to Seattle to San Diego to Denver to Alabama then home.

  19. Rode motorcycle to New England, Canada and then back to Ohio on Kawasaki street bikes with my brother. For some reason we seem to be more approachable on bikes. Random people will come up to you for conversation.

  20. Chicago to San Diego via Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada. Saw many national parks. Very good time.

  21. All four corners of the drivable 49 states. It was about 19k miles and incredible!

  22. I did 5k miles from Colorado > Texas > New Mexico > Arizona > California > Nevada > Utah > Colorado. It took us 3 weeks, and it was incredible.

We went to NASA, a wildlife sanctuary, the ufo museum, water skiing at Clear Lake, a casino in Reno, the salt flats, Carlsbad Caverns, Petrified Forest, the Grand Canyon, Arches, and a bunch of cities and towns along the way.

I’d love to do a similar trip further east!

  23. Over 4K miles, a loop from Madison WI, to Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, San Jose, Reno, then a beeline home. In an RV. I was 13, my dad was driving, and my brother brought the boy I had a crush on along.

  24. I’ve done coast to coast a couple times. Let me tell you, the Great Plains states are not that great. So much emptiness!

  25. About 950 miles. North Carolina to Wisconsin and San Francisco to Vancouver, roughly the same distance.

  26. Cross-country round-trip, about 7500 miles in 18 days. It was a blast.

If you count not driving myself, I did DCI (Drum Corps International) for 4 years which was definitely more mileage. It’s basically a competitive summer marching band circuit, where you drive around the country for 3 months performing and competing. My group would cover the east coast to as far west as San Antonio with long drives most overnights.
