People in the area I live, I do not typically trust. I live in a bible belt state and am non-christian and not straight / cis. I wanna try finding community with people who are like me or at least accepting of me, share common interests, are willing to do religious things and general activities together, but it seems like almost everyone in this area is a massive bigot.

Is there any way I could find out what people think about people like me in a way that’s safe?

Thank you in advance
And I apologize for bad wording or if this is the wrong subreddit for this

  1. One way is to go to places and events that are more suitable to your outlook. So things like hipster coffee shops, art galleries, community theater, local higher education, gaming, bookstores, art films etc. That’s where like-minded people will gather, and then you can get more tips from them as to where to go and who to hang out with.
