I’m too careless and blase about what’s going on around me. Mainly when it involves me in a situation with others. I’m determined to get better at paying more attention and not overthinking these things, and I’m really bad at it.

When I do try, it’s mainly overthinking and thinking I screwed up or caused harm. The next day I realize everything I made up in my head about something that happened, is either not remembered or it wasn’t a big deal. Plus, being bad at this has gotten in the way of potential relationships with people I like.

Are there books that teach you how to look at social interaction, and comprehend all the possibilities of why and what is going on? Is there anything I can do or practice to get things moving in my brain that will help me hone this skill?

Or maybe this is just a critical thinking issue overall, and I’m possibly not very smart.
