Like teased / layered hair?

  1. Never went away for me. I don’t have massive choppy layers but have always had some added at the end of a cut.

  2. Fashion is cyclical, and thank goodness with each passing year, many people feel more comfortable with their personal preferences.

  3. Fashions come and go and in some cases continue in the layers of life. I like my life simple and that starts with my hair. It needs to be manageable and therefore going back to 80’s hair is not for me. But volume is beautiful. If you’ve got it, flaunt it!

  4. Maybe not the biggest reason, but for sure one of them.

Really layered haircuts work great for any textured hair other thab straight, gives more volume, bounce and often defines a curl/wave pattern.

I feel like now, we’re embracing natural features, such as freckles, moles, different skin types (think of the uprise of foundation shades that aren’t 5 types of beige only), different hair textures, a bit more than in the 00s or even 2010s. Probably also goes in hand with people culturally appropriating hairstyles that don’t really work for their hair (i.e. white people with thin hair getting cornrows & tight braids, from the cultural impact aside, your hair will be seriously damaged, and your scalp will suffer, bc straight hair simply isn’t ‘made’ for protective styles like that), but yeah.

Also fashion eras (and with it, hairstyles) return in cycles, so now maybe the whole 80s/90s thing is big, I’m sure in 10 years time or so, we’ll be fully back to 00s fashion (hopefully without low-rise jeans).

  5. I really love this era. At least where I live. I’m not sure how it is in other countries but I’ve found today there is no real set style. Everyone just kind of wears whatever they think is cool now. Unless I’m just too old and never noticed lol

  6. Is it? I have no idea because I don’t follow hairstyle trends, so I haven’t noticed.

Why? The same reason that any hairstyle comes in and out of fashion. Fashion is cyclical.

  7. Not necessarily teased hair. some teased looks are having a resurgence but none of them are really mainstream

Choppy, shaggy, mullet-y hair is definitely back in though, for all genders. But the styles that are currently in embrace and complement natural hair texture vs the oversized volume and frizziness of the 80s
