Company is bringing in some development coach / training specifically for me for social skills and interacting with clients.

I’ve read several stories on reddit where different companies do something similar to an employee only to let them go at the end of training. Apparently just allows them to say something like ‘you have poor development but we tried’ when they don’t have a real reason to fire you.

  1. What’s the harm in doing the training? You get paid, may benefit from it, and even if they fire you afterward, they could do that at any time without the training. If you resign, you may be ineligible for unemployment. Do the training, get your resume updated and quietly look for interesting new jobs and see where this takes you.
