what are your thoughts on the new Barbie?

  1. I personally am not a fan, barbie wasn’t supposed to mimic real world it was supposed to give kids hope that there is a magical beautiful world out there and you can be anything you want to be. I grew up watching barbie movies and playing with Barbie dolls. There were faires, mermaids, balls, princesses. There was magic and hope, it was an escape from real world for me. Now it’s all about being woke and showing realism, kids need magic in their life right? It’s good being inclusive but I think people just try to be extra with this nowadays, even the Marvel movies, it’s so obvious that all of them are trying extremely hard to be “woke” so they don’t get cancelled.

  2. What do I search to read About it? I definitely thought you were talking about the movie lol

  3. No thoughts.
Never been much of a Barbie fan and it’s nothing I think about in my adult life. It’s just a doll brand.

  4. I like it, it fits with modern day kids. The kids still have the options to watch all the fantasy movies, but they also have options to see Barbie take on more realistic roles in life. I don’t necessarily think they’re trying to be “woke” but rather just include more female representation in much needed fields. Since Barbie and the brand often play a large role in young girls lives, it is important to showcase all the possibilities for these young little girls (and boys!) to have 🙂

  5. I love all the diversity and different sizes. Growing up I loved barbies and played with them long after most of my peers had grown out of it, but as a short fat redheaded girl I didn’t really identify with her. Not that she made me feel bad about myself – I knew she was a doll and no one expected me to look like that in real life or anything. It just kind of kept a distance between me and the concept of Barbie I guess, like she could have this great fantasy life but I never would. So I think it’s awesome that now there are barbies of all different sizes and colors and abilities. It would have meant a lot to me and really boosted my self esteem to be able to play with barbies that looked more like me. Also, all the curvy Barbie outfits are so cute. It would have helped me figure out how to dress my shape. So I’m glad more little girls today can have that experience. She’s still aspirational but those aspirations seem more attainable when the doll looks like you.

Also the movie looks awesome very excited for it! I don’t watch YouTube or TikTok or whatever but I guess that’s where the kids are 🤷‍♀️

  6. The movie? I’m already planning my outfit. I bought Barbie shoes.

Not too thrilled about Ryan Gosling playing Ken. He doesn’t look like a Ken to me.

  7. This ain’t Barbie to me, the og will always be top tier, I don’t know what those superficial things are but that’s not my Barbie.
