How do you get your hair so shiny? Is it from hair products or styling it?

  1. Both. The key is not to under/overuse any of the products.

Can be tricky but once you get it right it works perfectly.

  2. The biggest thing is matching the right products (or lack of products) to your specific hair. Everybody has different genetics, we all have different thickness, strengths, oiliness, etc.

I have mostly European ancestry, my hair is blonde, thin, and a tiny bit of natural wave. I shampoo twice, condition and leave it in for about 5 minutes before rinsing. Then I donan initial pat dry with towel, then high heat blow dry. Works to give me really silky hair.

However, I personally prefer having fluffier hair so I don’t do that often and do a whole different routine. But that routine always works for getting my hair soft and silky.

  3. Both. You don’t have to buy expensive products, but you do have to use products that are made for your hair type. Most drugstore products have lines devoted to all types of hair now, so it isn’t as expensive as it used to be.

Using hair oils can help A LOT, but the brand and type would depend on what your hair type is. If you’re using heated tools like a blow dryer or a straightener, use heat protectant. I personally avoid using any heat at all in my hair if possible. I also use a diffuser to dry my hair if I can’t air dry.

I also recommend speaking to a stylist. If your hair is over processed or damaged, it may just be easier to go short and grow it back out. That’s what I did, but my hair grows insanely fast, so I went from a pixie cut in August ‘22 to now having hair past my shoulders. But it looks so much healthier now. Again, speak to a stylist and always keep your hair hydrated!

ETA- it’s also a trial and error thing. It took me around 6 months to find drugstore products and a routine that worked.

  4. I started using a shampoo with Argan oil in it! My hair is so smooth and soft now. It’s the lush shampoo bar – Jason and the Argan oil

  5. I have fine, fair hair. I wash my hair twice a week with low cost (Suave) shampoo and conditioner. I use a wide toothed comb to get tangles out and then I air dry (I never use a hair dryer, always air dry). I use no products in my hair and never have. I shower in the evening but I allow 2hrs for my hair to dry so that I don’t sleep with wet or damp hair.

  6. I try to oil my hair for a few hours before washing it (if not overnight) and I always use an oil after it’s been washed.

  7. Shampoo , conditioner , leave in/ hair oil at ends, blow dry . Style if needed for work or event
Bonus points for silk pillow cases
