Just curious what people’s thoughts are on this. Aside from Facebook Dating being probably a somewhat dead platform (and therefore the real fantasy of the “Secret Crushes” feature not being that your friends secretly like you, but that your friends use Facebook Dating), what are your thoughts on the general idea?

The promise that your friends will not be notified that a secret crush exists unless they also set up Facebook Dating (thus ensuring that at least they won’t know unless they’re already in the market for a romantic partner) is certainly reassuring. However, what do you think your reaction would be if you learned that one of your Facebook friends had listed you as a secret crush, without knowing which of them it was?

You can only learn the identity of your secret admirer if you too list them as a secret crush, so hopefully you only learn who this person is if you are interested in them too. However, do you think it’s a valid way of very passively approaching one of your friends/acquaintances, or do you just think it’s a lame way of avoiding taking the risk of being rejected by asking directly?
