A symbol could be anything from a monument, statue, or identifying flag, that represents opportunities, freedoms, and the pursuit of happiness

  1. The Statue of Liberty is probably my favorite piece of American symbolism for that reason.

    > Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
    With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
    Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
    A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
    Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
    Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
    Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
    The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
    “Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
    With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
    Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
    The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
    Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
    I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

    Even if it’s a quote that the US has sometimes failed to live up to (the Chinese Exclusion Act was passed during its construction), it goes hard.

  2. The land of opportunity? I dunno, what’s the most Australian thing you can think of?

  3. Probably the Statue of Liberty. It’s what nearly every immigrant saw when coming through Ellis Island.

  4. A porcupine humping a pile of money. iE the Libertarian Party’s equivalent of the Donkey and Elephant.
