What are the signs? My friends were talking about someone being manipulative in this random online argument but to me it seemed like they were just giving advice and trying to be nice about it. Idk is it like a context clue or some general red flags I should be looking for?

  2. In this particular case: if there’s something for them to be gained from the advice they give, but they’re not disclosing it, and instead just appear very invested that the person follows it.

    Doesn’t have to be tangible material gain, could be time/attention/prestige/validation, etc.
