What are some of the snobbiest towns/cities in the US and why?

  1. I went to a bar in Georgetown the other night and holy fucking shit, these kids are just something else. Nothing but “myyyy father is chairman of the booooard” left and right.

  2. Mountain Brook, AL. Old money. One of the wealthiest communities in the US. 95% white. Suburb of Birmingham.

  3. My image of Newport, Rhode Island is that you need to them a seven figure bank statement before they even let you in

  4. In my experience… Montecito CA.

For when Santa Barbara is just too poor and gross for you.

Average listing price is like $5 million. Eeep…

The good thing is the sewage treatment is pretty simple cause the resident’s shit doesn’t stink.

  5. I travel a fair bit and the two worst that I have encountered are Miami and LA – but in two different ways.

It wasn’t everybody, but it was stuff I noticed more than other places. LA tended to be more self absorbed – talking loudly, feeling like they had to let everyone know that they were more important. They were nice, but it was a bit much. Miami (especially around the South Beach area) treated verbal insults like a sport. Again, not everyone, but we sat around a few places having food and drinks, and people wouldn’t hesitate to talk loudly, insulting others for what they were wearing, driving, etc.

  6. Honestly every suburban town inside 128 comes off snobby to me, but if I had to pick one it would have to be Weston because it’s the richest town in the state. Median household income is $220,000

  7. In my experience, Portland is pretty snobby.

I didn’t realize until I moved out and came back to visit but people there are simply unfriendly. I mean, sure, you’ll get good/bad apples everywhere but it’s like the average person there has a smug look and don’t want to talk to you. And I get it, some people are distant but there’s a kind of “I know better than you so back off” vibe when you talk to people.

It’s kinda funny how for years, the people there try to breed this idea that it’s the flyover states or the South that were racist or close minded or whatever (and I’m not saying there aren’t close minded people there)….but I never felt more discriminated against and looked down upon than when I was living there. Just didn’t realize it until I moved out and came back. And I think it’s gotten worse due to the high costs of living, hipster, yuppies, and tech bros moving in.

  8. Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket become snobby for three months out of the year but otherwise they (at least Nantucket) arent

  9. Not always entire towns, but major parts.

    Highland Park in Dallas.
    Buckhead, Atlanta
    Palm Beach, FL
    Marin Country
    Greenwich… tops on my list.

  10. Boulder, Lots of Santa Fe, decent chunk of Seattle and Denver. Probably unpopular but whatever

  11. My home town of Ann Arbor probably leads cities in Michigan but I can think of snobbier places in other states.

  12. Scottsdale, aka “Snottsdale” AZ. I swear North Phoenix is the unofficial Hollywood USA. The snottiest people live in that town and the laws they enact to keep their town pristine and poor people free is ridiculous

  13. Palos Verdes CA. Very rich suburb of LA. They had a surfer gang who would chase people off from the surfing beaches because they weren’t locals.

  14. Aspen. “I’ve got a little place in Aspen” oh, puke, of course you do, Sven. Of course you do. 🤣

  15. Hinsdale & Naperville, IL- they think they’re the modern day’s Hyde Park, but they’ve got nothing on the gorgeous landscapes of Lake Forest, Winnetka, Kenilworth, any one of the Barringtons, + Oak Brook, and none of historical significance of Oak Park & River Forest.

  16. Potomac, MD. DC elitist and politicians right outside the nations capital. I got there to one of my moms favorite restraunts to pick up food and people look at me like im out of place or not good enough to be there

  17. Atherton California for literally voting against affordable housing being built because it would look bad compared to all the mansions

  18. Rye, Bronxville, Scarsdale, Larchmont, Chappaqua, Briariff Manor, Pelham Manor, all of these are in Westchester, NY.

  19. Newport Beach, Orange County CA. Arrested Development is basically about this town (and Laguna Beach)

  20. Newport Beach Ca. I literally got off of a bus with my homies and 2 mins later police swarmed us. Didn’t need a reason, we looked like and were street rats but weren’t there for any shenanigans .
Also we literally just got off a city bus. I told the cops to go fuck themselves and left because I know my rights. It was bullshit though.
