I (29F) am so lonely. Not in the romantic sense (I have a boyfriend but it’s a LDR), I just crave social interactions with people. I only have 3 friends that i’ve had since school and they are SO boring! We used to hang out every weekend and now i’m lucky if i see them twice a year. They don’t hang out with each other either so it’s not just that i’m painful to be around.
I’m really shy so i’ve never really made any other long lasting friendships 🙁 I do have a lot of online friends, but I want to do things irl so i’m thinking about going to a bar or club and maybe hopefully meeting some cool people. I am a little apprehensive though, because it can get a little scary out there. Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

OP I would really suggest safer alternatives, day time things like group hikes, classes, art, volunteering or what not. Being a shy person out at night offers some chance of being victimized or winding up in unfortunate circumstances due to inexperience and not having a battle buddy with you.
If you want to go out at night, how about a coffee shop or somewhere people go to study or what not.

Share your location with a couple of people you trust, and tell them where you’re going and when you’ll be back
I limit myself to one or two drinks and I keep activated charcoal in my pill caddy to sober up fast if I feel too tipsy (my aunt is a nurse and likes partying lmao)
I have had a lot of great nights out by befriending girls in the bathroom and often getting invited to dance with their friend group
If the place isn’t super busy sometimes I sit at the bar and talk to bartenders (they also have great recs for other places to go out)
Again, safety first, if something feels *off* listen to your gut
But also things like taking a month long pottery class is good to make friends cause you share a similar interest and you get to know the same group of people over a few classes instead of just over one night
