I’m in a situation where I have to move and find new places to rent every year. I also live in a big city and don’t own a car.

Under these circumstances, would it be a good idea to own a 40 inch TV? My main issue is that I don’t have a reliable way to safely move it when I change accommodations. But I’d like to know your thoughts. Also, let me know if I could post this on another subreddit. Thanks.

  1. Do you not hire a van to move properties? How much is a tv worth to you, per month? So look at the TCO, and consider things like buying second-hand, selling it when you leave etc etc.

  2. What about a projector instead? More investment that a TV, but easy to box up and move.

  3. Do you have space to retain the box? it’s then very easy to safely transport between accommodation.

  4. How do you normally move between properties with the rest of your belongings? I’d say as long as it fits in a taxi then you could do that?

  5. Get a tablet, I own a couple of tvs but I basically watch everything on a tablet.

  6. You can rent a tv – pros are that you can have a cutting edge big tv for a price per month you’d never afford if you bought [and paid on a monthly basis.] Plus, any problems, they come and fix it as part of the deal – upgrade you if you want for something different. You end the contract when you like. Try BoxClever.

Cons – you are paying for something that you will never own.
