So. Friend of mine who’s also a coworker is in town for a couple days. Just got here tonight; I picked her up at the airport. She’s here both for business and to visit.

She wasn’t here ten minutes before a friend back home called her to chat. And she got up, left the room and went to her bedroom, shut the door and talked for an hour. We can hear her laughing and talking, so it’s not a crisis.

Is it me or is that just incredibly rude?

  1. It really depends on a few things – is she in town just to see you, or is she crashing at your place? If she’s just crashing there, I think it’s fine for her to do whatever she wants with her time. If it is clear she is there to see you, I can sort of understand being offended (I can also see not being offended).

  2. Is she a co-worker or a friend first? If she’s a co-worker, I wouldn’t say it’s rude.
