Guy (33m) I’ve (26f) been dating for 2 months has his birthday coming up. But we haven’t introduced each other to friends or family, and have no mutual connections. I want to celebrate his birthday but I feel his family and friends might have plans, so I cannot expect to get him to meet me that day.

I’m wondering if I should ask him out for a date the previous week and give him a present in advance.

What do you all think? Please help me out. I want to make him feel special and important, and don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to let him know my commitment towards our budding relationship.

  1. I like the idea of a gift the week prior. Expresses interest, remembering important dates, and gives him the opportunity to include you in his birthday if appropriate.

  2. I had a birthday about a month into dating/being exclusive with my boyfriend. He took me out for dinner a couple days after my actual birthday to a place he was a fan of and promised I would enjoy (he was right). It worked out really well, we got to have a more romantic date than usual for us and celebrate.
