Hi everyone! So I’ve been pondering this for awhile and am not sure what to do. I’ve recently graduated college but have had the same core group friends since high school. We have fun together, but I’ve been finding them really annoying this past year or so. My interests barely align with theirs anymore (they haven’t changed much since high school even though we all now have graduated college) and on top of that, some of them constantly try to bring me down to prop themselves up. I want to ditch them honestly, but I’m scared to because I don’t have anyone else. I wasn’t able to successully find a core group in college due to mental health issues and not having self confidence in myself and I felt super lonely during that time. Even though my self confidence is much better, despite my friends constantly bringing me down, I am scared that if I ditch my friend’s currently, I’ll not make other friends and be super lonely. I am not sure what to do and feel stuck.

  1. Same here but at this point I just don’t care anymore. It’s like a chore keeping certain people around

  2. You could try making new friends first, and THEN ditch your friends (if you still want to.)

You’re at a stage of life when people normally make new friends anyway.

  3. A lot of the strongest relationships in my life have come out of the workplace. After spending 8+ hours a day with some coworkers it’s bound to happen.
