What’s the nicest hotel you’ve stayed at while overseas?

1. I only ever stayed in one, in London; I don’t remember the name, and it wasn’t that nice.

2. *Nicest* would probably be the Gallia in Milan, though my favorite is the Palacio del Retiro in Madrid.

3. It’s not that fancy (4 stars?), but the Pentahotel in Liège is quite stylish and has an amazing breakfast.

4. Hassler Roma in Rome for my honeymoon.

   They didn’t have our very nice room ready when we arrived so for the two nights we were there they put us in one of the named suites.

   Extremely nice.

5. Funny, you think I have the money to go overseas.

6. Conrad Tokyo was really nice, as was The Merrion in Dublin.

7. The only hotel I’ve ever stayed at was in Panama City. I figured it would be mostly mariners there but judging by the way they dressed and carried themselves, I’d say not.

8. Hard to pick just one.

   In Chile I spent a week at a nice hotel in Santiago with 1 br suite and a 20th floor view of the city and a lounge with local wine and tapas and there was a rooftop pool.

   Had some pretty nice high rise rooms in Guatemala City and Barranquilla too. Stayed in an old castle in France.

9. Probably a tie between the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich and Hotel Weisses Roessl in Kitzbuehl.

10. Grand Pigalle Hotel in Paris. I’m usually not one for luxury hotel stays (resort vacations excluded) because I don’t do much more than sleep and shower there so the luxury is lost on me. That might change now that I work for a global hotel chain and the cost isn’t as much of a factor.

11. It’s a tie between the Ritz Carlton in Shanghai or the Grand Hyatt in Singapore. They were both lovely.

12. The Rembrandt in London. But it is the only one so far. The location could not be beat, though the restaurant left much to be desired.

13. On my honeymoon in Malaysia, I stayed at a super nice resort–Japamala Resort on Tioman Island. We spent the other half of our week in Kuala Lumpur at the Ascott hotel. Also very fancy.

    I also stayed in a fancy hotel in Beijing. The Beijing Prime Hotel Wangfujing.

14. A Hilton in Nassau. Especially since I got upgraded to a huge room, and my diamond membership got me free full buffet breakfast and access to a lounge in the afternoon with free liquor and snacks.

    Best part is that it was a work trip, so I didn’t pay anything

15. Either Marina Bay Sands – Singapore or a tie between Galaxy – Macau and The Venetian – Macau

    Also you can book a room at a 5 star hotel in Macau for like $150 a night since the gamblers subsidize everyone else

16. Last year, we stayed at the Fairmont Château Frontenac in Quebec City. Amazing but my one complaint was that they didn’t provide free wifi.

17. If you mean fancy-ass nice than the old President in Dubai, circa 2000. The Oriental in Bangkok is a very close second.

    If it means gorgeous grounds, horse riding, very comfortable rooms, great food, attentive staff, and one of the best old-timey British expat pubs then it’s Forrester’s Arms, Mhlambanyatsi, Eswatini.

18. I tend to be more thrifty when I go overseas due to the other costs of going overseas. I guess maybe the BlueBay Grand Esmeralda near Playa del Carmen. The nicest hotels I’ve stayed in are all in the US.

19. For just sheer coolness? The Pulitzer in Amsterdam.

    For the view? Hotel Les Terresses D’Eze in the south of France. A little west of Monaco up on the mountainside. Unbelievable view of the Mediterranean.

20. I have a whole story about how I managed to stay at the Villa Magna hotel in Madrid for 100 euros a night. This is a place where the cheapest room is usually 350 euros. They had goofed up a Valentines day offer on their site and I snuck in. They later tried to charge me €250 a night and I refused to go along with it.

    It was fantastic. I think the marble bathroom floors were the biggest thing, along with the amazing breakfast. Those floors feel so good on your feet after a day of walking around.

21. Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic. Every guest gets a golf cart because the property is huge.

22. Overwater Bungalows at Le Meridian in Bora Bora. Nothing will ever come close

23. The Amman Marriott is pretty flippin’ nice, but I have simple needs. The shower was awesome.

24. Depends what you mean by “nice”.

    The [Tivoli Doelen](https://goo.gl/maps/GiZiNABfbL5zid5a8) in Amsterdam is technically a 5-star hotel, and it was very pretty and the staff took care of everything I needed, but it was just a hotel in Amsterdam in the long run.

    On the other hand, the [Eastland Suites Hotel and Conference Center](https://goo.gl/maps/D1P2QPDJ3DezwyVd7) in Bloomington, IL got me a gigantic suite for $90 when I was traveling home across the country in heavy snow. A fireplace, full kitchen, full bath, king bed, etc. Was probably the size of my current apartment, and I still remember how nice it was 7 years on.

25. Tie between The Raffles in Singapore, Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur, or the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok.

26. Probably some 3-4 star hotel in Hong Kong that I got for only $80. Usually I try to limit my accommodation to $50 a night or so, but that was just to good a value.

    It wasn’t even that expensive, but it was very nice traditional Japanese style rooms. (So if you don’t like sitting on the floor this isn’t for you). Felt almost too fancy for my cheap ass
