We met through my job. She is from Argentina and I am from America so a huge language barrier. I downloaded Duolingo to start trying to learn in the meantime in hopes of talking to her on a date eventually. But for now we just talk about our day. I don’t even know if she really likes me but do you think it’ll just fizzle cause of the language thing?

  1. How will you talk to each other if you ever met in real life…?

Honestly not worth it… Too much of a language barrier there.

  2. Give it a chance and see where it goes. My great grandma fell in love with my great grandpa without speaking the same language.

  3. You should have more than Duolingo. Aka a workbook and journal so you can keep notes in your own hand.

  4. I’m married to someone whose first language isn’t the same as mine. My second language isn’t any of his. He has spoken my language for more than a decade before meeting me. It’s hard. There are times when I don’t say things because I know he won’t get the full context of it. Like nuanced words. Or something cultural from childhood.
