Not sure where to ask this. In the past year or two, I’ve noticed that my perineum sometimes feels very tight when I’m very aroused. I wouldn’t necessarily call it painful, but the sensation can get kind of sharp, and it doesn’t seem to be something I can just fix by simply relaxing the muscles in the area (not voluntarily, anyway). Does anyone know why this happens and how I can make it less uncomfortable? I’m female btw.

  1. It could be because your are clenching your vaginal muscles and your anus as the same time thus stretching the perineum.

  2. Your pelvic floor muscles can tighten as you get aroused or have an orgasm. If it interferes with your sex like a difficult or painful penetration and sex or while masturbating then that needs a doctor visit. Otherwise it’s fine. If you do too much kegels try cutting down on its frequency and duration.

  3. Not a whole lot you can do about it. When you get aroused, the entire area is flooded/engorged with blood making all the tissues swell. It’s a left over evolutionary sex signal that signals you are ready to “engage”, kinda like the big red baboon butt. Did you maybe have a end to a pregnancy that ended with an episiotomy or tear repair that was done too tightly? If not, I guess you could try “Prenatal Perineal massages”. Look that term up on Google. It’s exercises meant to loosen up the area in prep for childbirth.
