I’ve tried so many chairs, I can’t find a good one. Ideally, high-backed with a headrest and tilting seat.

Typical problems-

* The shoulder area curves forward or inward at the top, forcing my shoulders forward

* Hard plastic edges that dig into my back and make my shoulders go numb

* Hard plastic edges around lumbar support that dig into my spine

I’ve tried every chair at Herman Miller, the shoulders are always too low and the seats don’t tilt

  1. My husband’s 6’3″, we usually have to go to the store in person so he can try them. It’s kind of annoying in the internet age, but it’s better than wasting money on something that’s not comfortable.

He usually buys the ones partnered with Serta that are designed for 8 hours plus.

  2. Have you tried a bigger Aeron? They come in 3 sizes. I cannot stand the B at work but my C at home is good. Much wider on the shoulders.

It’s still not perfect tbh. But I’ve tried so many chairs and this was the least offensive

  3. I’m 6’4″ and 290lbs and I *love* the Ikea Markus chair. They’re $300-ish, comfortable, and durable. I’m retired now (60+ years old) but spent the last 20+ years working from home, primarily, so I sat all day, every day in that chair.

I replaced it twice, and I handed one of them down to my daughter who also works from her home and still uses it to this day.

The one thing I did with mine was replace the casters with polyurethane roller-blade-like wheels because I use it primarily on carpeting. There are a ton of caster options on Amazon specifically for Ikea chairs with a full set running about $30.

  5. Mesh? No. Not that I’ve found. I’m 6’4”. What I found that I like is the Shaq collection. I ordered mine through Office Depot. Not mesh, it’s leather (fake I’m guessing) but it really breaths well. Super comfy and plenty of upper back support.

  6. I got the X-Chair and love it. Was debating that or a Herman Miller. Made the right choice. It’s incredible, adjustable, breathable mesh
