  1. Call time and SMSs are unlimited on virtually all of the cheapest plans in the US.

    But I get 20gb/month on Mint Mobile for $25/mo billed annually which is a deal.

  3. 30 a month for me. But that’s because I don’t use much data so honestly blowing like 100$ a month for the 10gb of data I use makes no sense especially when 90% of the places you go to have free WiFi

  5. I pay maybe $10 per month with Tracfone. I buy talk minutes, data, and texts as they get low. I rarely talk on the phone. I text daily, but texts are very cheap. I do data-intensive things like downloading maps when I’m connected to Wi-Fi.

    The phone itself cost me $30.

    This is much lower than most people pay but it works for me.

  9. Nearly $100 for unlimited everything with Verizon but I’m in a rural area where other carriers have poor coverage. I’d love to switch but I also can’t tolerate dropped coverage.

  18. We pay $80/month for two people for unlimited everything from Cricket. It’s sometimes not the best service but hasn’t been big enough of a problem to warrent switching to another provider that charges at least double.

  19. Currently, I’m paying USD$15/month incl 2GB data and unl calls/texts ….for the past couple decades or so, I’ve been doing pre-paid because it’s way cheaper. Handsets are not included. You can choose to buy whichever unlocked phone you want.

    Edit to add: I pay another company separately for wi-fi at home. I’ve never needed more than 2GB on my phone.

  22. 3 lines that share 10GB, about $45 a month with Xfinity Mobile. We had unlimited for $90/month but it turns out we just don’t use that much date.

  32. My phone bill is from Verizon Wireless prepaid since 2020. I pay exactly $25 plus $3.42 tax for 5GB of 5G data. I could upgrade the plan but I am satisfied with my plan. My parents have their own plan and pay much more.

  34. Verizon prepaid plan $55 for unlimited data. I do also have $15 off for setting up auto pay and because I’ve been with them for so long.

  37. I pay $35 every two months. This buys 750 calling mins., 1 GB of data, and 1000 “text units.”

    Once I buy an allotment, it becomes mine; none of it expires. Of course it is possible to use the entire allotment up before the end of the billing cycle, but I never use up my calling minutes or my tet units, so the balances continue to accumulate over time. I am exchanging more texts than ever now, but my total number of texts is still less than a couple dozen each month. I currently have a balance of over 14k calling minutes and over 20k texts. The data allotment does run low, but unless I am doing a lot of traveling, it rarely gets completely depleted. Most of the time I am on a wi-fi network, which doesn’t use any of the data allotment. If I ever do get close to running out though, I simply buy more through the carrier’s app.

    I buy my phones direct from the manufacturer and not from the carrier because I get a better selection of models that way. I buy the phone unlocked and pay for it in full, so I own it and can use it with any carrier I want. I have used the same MVNO for well over a decade but I have never had a long term contract with them, and I have never had one with anyone else. For most of that time bought service from it on a month to month basis, but now I buy it in 2-month increments.

  38. $33/month. Just myself & my phone is already paid off. I have AT&T prepaid with unlimited texting & calls plus 8gb data. I don’t even use half of my data allotment though.

    I’m always befuddled why contracts are so much more popular than prepaid. The minimum contract with AT&T is so much more expensive than any of the prepaid plans. Are most people really using more than 8gb of data per month?!

  40. Family of 6. We only pay for one phone service. Straight talk from Walmart at 40 a month for unlimited. We use wifi mostly everywhere anyways. Another phone is the low income service free unlimited everything. And then all the kids have phones but just use wifi local or wifi connected to one of our phones.

    So for all 6 to have service we only pay 40 a month. No one uses calls anymore. It’s usually Facebook video calls or Zoom, both use wifi data for free. The only.time we use data is when we are in the car driving.

  42. I just switched to Visible, Verizon’s low cost network. Unlimited talk, text and data on Verizon 5G network for $25 per month. I switched last month. Down from $73 for Verizon Unlimited.

  45. $15/month with Mint Mobile for more data than I need, unlimited talk/text. I buy my phones used/refurbished.

  46. I pay $15 per month for unlimited calls and SMS/MMS text within the US, Canada, and Mexico and 5 GB of data (Mint Mobile). I paid for my unlocked iPhone SE in full.

  47. $15 a month with Mint Mobile for Unlimited Talk and Text and 5GB of Data. The trick is that you pay in advance. I agree to this rate for a year at a time and pay it in three month bursts (instead of all at once because it’s a family plan).

    I bought my iPhone 12 from Apple directly.
