Where the heck do am I supposed to look if someones in front of me.

I was having a party at my house, and I was eating carrots, someone went up to me to the food tray right in front of me to eat chips and dip. I I had no Idea where to look, do I look at her, downwards, looking at the other people talking.
I ended up leaving because it just got really awkward.
It’s just When someone is right in front of me and we are facing each other without talking, I have no idea where to look.
