What’s your interest level in the Barbie movie?

  1. General curiosity to see how they’ve handled everything but not enough interest to pay money to watch it when it opens. I’ll see it when it makes it to free streaming.

  2. I am exhausted with this movie. It’s been hyped up for so long and I’ve been waiting for it to come out so the whole wave could pass and here we are. I feel like they’ve been talking about this movie for years now and each time I see marketing for it i. Like “oh it hasn’t come out yet?”.

Being so tired of it makes me not wanna see it, don’t think I ever really looked forward to it anyways.

  3. I’m excited! It looks like it will be very good, I love the level of care they’ve obviously put into it. I’m not sure I’ll get a chance to see it in the theater, but I’ll watch it as soon as it comes to streaming, for sure.

  4. On a scale of 1 to 10, it’d be about -5. I have no interest in it at all. It’s been 50 odd years since I cared about Barbie

  5. I’m excited, however I feel like they should have casted someone else for Ken. I’m sorry but Ryan Gosling is too old to be Ken. Margot Robbie was a great choice for Barbie tho.

  6. 6.5/10

I have a slight interest in seeing it in theaters, but don’t know if I actually will. I will likely eventually watch it in the future though if I don’t go see it.

  7. I’m very very excited! I’m living for it and the crossover with Oppenheimer memes. I have close to zero interest in Oppenheimer though.

I loved Barbies growing up. I had several Barbie dolls, the car, the RV, the tub, the beauty salon, the office, the pool… you get the idea. I also adore Margot Robbie, and seeing her say “it’s one of the best scripts I’ve ever read and I never thought they’d let us film it” sold me from the start.

I got tickets for the opening weekend and an amazing sparkly pink cup that comes with a popcorn + soda combo, so the entire thing cost a fortune. But I haven’t taken my inner child to the movies in SO LONG, she really wants it and we’re gonna have so much fun.

  8. Um, nonexistent. Some of the wardrobe choices that I’ve seen in promos slay, but that’s not enough to convince me to watch the movie.

  9. First very excited but seeing all those clips etc makes me feel like I got spoiled

  10. I’ve been hype since the pics leaked from filming. I’m really psyched for it, even though I didn’t watch or grow up with Barbie. The marketing is wild and so good.

  11. I want to see it, but idk that I care enough to actually see it in theaters. More and more, I’d much rather watch movies at home unless there’s some actual reason why they’d be more engaging on the big screen (like cool special effects).

  12. Medium, I guess.

I’m obsessed with Barbie and adore Margot Robbie (literally could not imagine anyone else cast to play Barbie) but I rarely if ever can stand to sit through a current movie. Really haven’t been interested in current movies for maybe the last 5 or 10 years. I loathe seeing movies in theaters and soap2day died so…ehhh.

I think it’s a very cool idea and love the aesthetic but no real plans to see it.

  13. I don’t really care about it but when it starts to stream I’m probably gonna get high and watch it.

  14. I’m definitely looking forward to streaming it but not “paying $11 for a matinee ticket” interested.

(Anyone else’s local theater basically do away with cheap matinees lately?)

  15. I was never much into Barbies as a kid, but I had one or two. That said, I do really like the attention to detail they have put in regarding how Barbie interacts with her world as a result of how we would interact with Barbie. It seems like it will be a funny, lighthearted movie that feeds into that childhood nostalgia.

I look forward to watching it with my partner because he is a self described “himbo” who loves Ryan Gosling and will probably enjoy it even more than me.

  16. I am excited that so many people are absolutely giddy over this movie! I’ve loved seeing the social media posts, fashion inspo, themed parties, etc. We need something fun to look foreword to and I’m glad that so many people are reliving their childhood joy and memories of Barbie.

Personally, I have zero interest in seeing the movie. I loved playing with Barbies growing up and I’m a big Greta Gerwig fan (looks like she did an incredible job with the film!). I’m just not interested in seeing it.

I hope it’s as amazing as everyone is hoping it is! Happy viewing!

  17. High. I have been chasing the feeling of walking into the Barbie aisle in 1997 for all of my adulthood. Give it back.

  18. I’m excited! It looks like it’ll be a hilarious and goofy movie. I like the color pink so it’ll be fun to see everything be all pink, which will be wild. Also the actress for Barbie is spot on in terms of how Barbie should look!

  19. 10/10, boyfriend and I are going to watch both Barbie and Oppenheimer on opening weekend.

  20. **11/10 📈**

I have followed Greta her whole career. I was a big fan of her early work with Joe Swanberg, and I’ve liked most projects she’s been involved with. The film movement they come from is heavily focused on storytelling, and the movies deal with interpersonal relationships and social dynamics.

With that said, I think this movie has the potential to tell a really interesting story while simultaneously leaning into and subverting Barbie stereotypes (I’m kind of hoping it will giving Adapation by Kaufman).

Greta’s partner is Noah Baumbach, who did a lot of projects with Wes Anderson, whom I’m not a huge fan of, but I can see similarities in the lush, maximal set design and attention to detail that makes it look like it draws from WA in some way. I think the Barbie Movie’s sets and wardrobe choices are *stunning.*

The marketing campaign feels smart and perfectly on brand for Barbie.

I also listen to most of the artists that were announced for the Barbie Soundtrack, and I’ve loved all the songs so far. The music videos released have also been visually stunning.

So.. the movie is like the pinnacle of my favorite modern film movement, and it looks like it will be thought provoking about gender roles. I totally appreciate that these are very personal reasons for wanting to see it, so I’m definitely not judging anyone who isn’t interested, but I def think people should give it a shot!

  21. Excited. Do i like barbie? No but the way this movie is styled/the asthetic is so interesting to me.
