Best is subjective but more so towards loyal fan bases that support their team regardless of standing and is a part of cities culture in some capacity.

For example, if you asked me as a non-American I would guess the Yankees for MLB, Packers for NFL, maybe Lakers for NBA?, and no clue for Hockey.

    Detroit, Minnesota, and Boston for Hockey.

    Packers, Chiefs and Eagles for NFL.

    Boston and Philly for NBA.

    Baseball is largely whoever is good at the moment.

  5. If we’re defining “best” as “most loyal”, then I hereby place my vote with Minnesota for baseball, football, and hockey.

    We’ve been watching those teams lose year after year, sometimes coming so close that we can almost see the light, only to fail…. And yet, Minnesotans bear the pain and stay true.

  9. Baseball – St. Louis Cardinals

    Hockey – Boston Bruins or New Jersey Devils

    Football – Buffalo Bills or Cleveland Browns (that pains me)

    Basketball – Portland Trailblazers

    I am not a fan of any of these franchises, but I have lived long enough to see them go through thick and thin and each of these fans stay loyal. Even meeting these fans is usually rather fun.

  11. You could make an argument for the Braves for the MLB. Because of the deal Ted Turner struck in the 90s to have Braves games plastered on everyone’s TVs nation wide for a decade, the Braves fanbase can be found all over the country. Most games they play as visitors sound like home games.

  12. The Packers are the only NFL team with two officially recognized home markets.

    The Yankees are woven into the greater part of NYCs culture more than their other teams.

    The Celtics have roots in Boston that even predate the NBA.

    The Canadiens are what brings English Montreal and French Montreal together.

  13. I can’t speak on the NBA, MLB, or NHL, but I agree on the Packers hands-down. They offer by far the best culture of any NFL team. They’ve had a lengthy sellout streak, they have a global fan base, they seldom have losing seasons, and they’re the only team in any Big Four sport that is owned by fans. I have also always been envious of how even though they’re one of the most popular teams around, they’re still deeply entrenched in their local community. Green Bay itself lives and breathes Packers, and its fans never have to worry about their team relocating.

  15. I am a San Francisco fan – Giants, Warriors, and 49ers. Not a hockey guy.

    Baseball : General consensus is that St Louis has the best fans, maybe with Cincinnati next.

    Football : Best are maybe Seattle? Worst are Philly and Oakland (they gone, though). Seriously, I fucking despise the Raiders fans, they are aggressive assholes. Also, Iggles fans are awful.

    Basketball : I can’t really say much about the fans.

  16. Depends on what you’d call “best”.

    For baseball, the Cubs had probably the most loyal fanbase, no title for 108 years and not even a pennant for over 70 years until 2016, yet the ball park was always pretty full.
