I’m a very anxious person. I’m like what would happen if a nervous borzoi gained sentience. So I’m thinking maybe I could make up a version of me that is confident and bold and eccentric that I could use in online conversation with strangers. I’m not sure if it’s a good idea, though.

For one, most of the time people don’t create alter egos to make friends. Usually it’s a thing that singers or YouTubers do. I feel like maybe it would be frustrating having to keep up the persona the whole time I’m talking, or that it would be obvious I was faking a personality.

If there is a way to do this correctly, then please tell me

  1. Honestly I’ve found that trying to just go for that confident persona when at least meeting completely new people can be achievable. For me it’s hard to break the image I already have of myself to most of my friends (agreeable, timid, chill, etc). So whenever I come across someone completely new, as in we have no mutual friends already, then acting more confident right off that bat feels more doable for some reason. It’s like they have no preconceived notion of who I am so I’m free to experiment however I want. Idk how productive that actually is lol but it is fun to just try out a different persona once in a while, at least for me. It’s almost like practicing confidence.
