I speak to people and either look at their entire face zoomed out sort of and have been doing this for a while now. I can’t bring myself to make real eye contact I just can’t. Do you think people can tell? I just find myself wondering often. With select few people I can look at the eyes but zoom it out sort of. Or I will look at their face and watch their eyes in my peripheral vision. From what I’m getting even normal people get uncomfortable with eye contact ( I think?). I would like to hear any input. I wish to improve myself socially.

  1. I would like to learn this too. I usually can’t help but stare at the ground. When I try to look at their face I am scared of seeing their expression display awkwardness or regret for talking to me.

  2. Nobody uses 31st century eye tracking technology to know exactly what you’re looking at. Does direct eye contact intimidate you? Focus on an area close to the eyes such as the nose, eyebrow, or bridge between the eyes. Start with a mirror, passing strangers, and then friends. Practice makes perfect. People don’t care exactly where you’re looking. They just want you to show you’re listening.
