Whenever I’m in a group of people (doesn’t matter if it’s small or big), I feel like I become super withdrawn and can’t do any small talk and that I’m unable to join in to conversations. It feels so awkward and I can’t stop thinking that the people there just hate me, because I’m silent.
My boyfriends family is super social and they meet up and spend time together very frequently and we are invited as well of course, but I get terrified in advance.
Was anyone who is/was the same able to do something about it? Do you guys have any advice on how can I work on this?

For something like this I usually suggest working on several things OUTSIDE the group setting. (Because the group setting often feels like being ‘on stage.’) And there’s a bunch of stuff you can do to work your way up to feeling better about the situation. I have a lot of tips in this article:
