Found out earlier the guy I’ve been dating not only read The 48 Laws of Power he thinks it’s a good book and he thinks it changed his life, eww
This book is a big red flag.
I’m I right? Or I’m reading to much into it

  1. It’s a book that’s meant to be read as a tool to understand the mind of a highly manipulative person. The book wasn’t written so people would follow implement the various laws in their daily life but more to help you spot red flags in manipulative people before they wiggle their way into your life.

A book I would compare it to for lack of better reference is “the prince” by Nicolo Machiavelli- it was written in 1531 and in it he gives examples of how horrible people tend to make it far in life and gain power over others. The book is a great tool to understand dictators but some people can use it for much more sinister purposes.

The book is definitely disturbing when taken from the wrong perspective and sometimes also from the right one. You don’t automatically become an evil person by reading this book, but it gives you an understanding into the manipulative behaviours of others. That is valuable. It’s not for everyone, but please don’t hold that fact against it or those who like it.

  2. I would say ask him more about it slyly and find out more of his perspective. If u got a weird stomach feeling when he talked about it then yes
