…what?
Never
Absolutely never
I went back to an old job that let me go once my unemployment ran up. Told them that too. I was fired by a person in retaliation for an HR report, so after they were done investigating he was subsequently fired, and my job was offered at a higher rate. They didn’t push me to return earlier in hopes I did not take legal action, pretty sure.
His name was Richard, and he was a dick.
Never. Every job I have left has been for a reason, it’d be a fool’s move to go back expecting a different outcome.
If over the course of your career you’ve gained skills and experience that will allow you to considerably advance and take a powerful, lucrative leadership role in your old industry, then go for it. Otherwise, it’s probably a regressive move.
I’ve only done it once, and it was during my lunch break on my first day of the new job after learning it was a bait and switch and the job I interviewed for (IT support) had nothing to do with what the job entailed (cold call sales)
That’s like revisiting the dump to see if it still smells like shit
When you have no other options.
Wow, thanks everyone.
OP here. The new job hasn’t turned into what was planned and I find myself doing the same work that I used to, in essence.
The old job wants me back. I would be familiar with the products, the software, and the PM. Plus my commute would be slashed down to almost nothing.
But I am deeply reflecting on why I left.
Never.
