  1. Minimize the areas of your clothes. Roll them up, don’t shove them in like your friend said. That should be your base.

  2. I organize things into section for instance 1/2 for pants and 1/2 for shirts and I roll them up like sushi in a bento box

  3. Have better spacial awareness and understand how to roll clothes too. Also watch a fucking youtube video.

  4. I’m a fan of vacuum packing. I’ve gone on a month long trip across the Rockies and West coast (North America), everything from plains to mountains and beaches all in 1 backpack, so a big variety of clothes are needed for the various conditions. I layer clothes in vacuum bags like lasagna, suck the air out and then pack them. Keeps the clothes dry, takes up way less space, the dirty stuff you pack back in the same way without fuss (don’t forget a hand pump) and I’m fairly certain that a slab of 3 sets of jeans folded 4 thick, vacuum packed and carried against your back can double as body armor.

  5. A weeks supply of underwear and socks. Three of any other types t-shirt, button. Two pants and two shorts. One sweater and a water repellent, light jacket. Slightly dressy shoes, light sneakers and sandals. Two hats. Toiletries. Bathing suit and quick dry beach wear. Leave room for any emergency purchases.

1 medium towel also good for the beach if not supplied where you are staying.

A large sunscreen if you will be out a lot. They rip you off for things like that at resort towns.

Keep one set out for travel day. Press and fold everything else properly before packing. It should all fit in a small suitcase.

Schedule a laundry morning each week.
