1. I don’t really understand the point of the “Considering that this is the richest country on earth” clarification, but to answer the question, I’d say funny place and/or street names, such as:

   * Weiner Cutoff Road

   * Half Hell, NC

   * Enigma, GA

   * Copperopolis, CA and Smelterville, ID (obviously industry-related)

2. Wisconsin county highways are named with letters. Makes for some amusing road trips when you find roads like PP or DD.

3. Apparently in Arizona it’s illegal for a donkey to sleep on a bathtub.
