People often ask men about their dream cars. I wanna hear about your dream house.

  1. One where I don’t have to do any diy ever. An occasional lawn mow would be enough. Dream list after that is a big kitchen, a nice tidy well organised garage, a easy to use wireless speaker system throughout the house. And a hot tub.

  2. A large Victorian house on a side street off a nice walkable downtown with a bunch of bars and restaurants, and inside updated with all the modern amenities (central air, heated floors, home gym including a steam room, etc)

  3. Cabin in the woods, cozy room to read in and plenty of firewood. And one broken phone so no one can call, but if they show up I can point at it and say “Oh sorry, my phones broken”.

  4. A decently large house deep in the Louisiana bayou, accessible only by boat. Surrounded by water that’s teeming with alligators. A nice little dock with a local population of water mocassins I can hand-feed small fish to.

  5. a beach front home, or a mountain one either of which will be mine at some point

  6. The cape cod I’m currently in, but fully modernized/upgraded and free of repairs and mortgage.

  7. A medium basement, three bed two bath, a corner tub, a small garden area and a rock lawn with some grass islands, single story, a small deck/patio, Some solar panels or a wind turbine, I’m not really sure what building materials I would prefer, I like brick and wood, an attached garage or a small studio building where I can do pottery or rock projects.

  8. In the woods by a lake or river. At night, there is no light pollution so the stars fill the sky. During the day, the ambient sounds are water lapping and the sound of wind in the trees. No pavement. Fireplace. Simple and natural.

  9. Probably weird but a luxury penthouse in a city.

    [Something like these.](https://imageio.forbes.com/blogs-images/keithflamer/files/2018/06/Screen-Shot-2018-06-08-at-11.51.56-PM-1200×536.jpg?format=jpg&width=960)

    [Something futuristic/clean and with a great view.](https://imageio.forbes.com/blogs-images/keithflamer/files/2018/06/Screen-Shot-2018-06-08-at-11.19.52-PM-1200×796.jpg?format=jpg&width=960)

I don’t get the hype around like a cottage in the middle of nowhere. I’d love spending my evenings sitting on a balcony with a drink and just watching the sun setting with the city lights twinkling below me and the distant hubbub and sirens.

Living in the middle of nowhere would be so terribly boring and lonely to me. And I’m not interested in being by the sea, just don’t care for it.

Although at this point with Britain being the way it is, my dream house is…a house. Just any house, a single house.

  10. It used to be a mansion with huge sprawling garden, but now it’s 2 spare bedrooms, an office, a summer house and a soundproof music/cinema room in the basement. A summer house at the end of the garden would be nice too.

  11. I actually built my dream house a few years ago.

1248 sq feet, small enough to easily clean in just a few hours.

1/3 of the house is the master bedroom and bath.

Exterior brick so I will not have to paint.

Vinal windows so I will not have to paint.

Metal roof so I will never have to worry about shingles blowing off.

Built on a concrete slab so I will not have to worry about seals, joists, sub flooring, or foundation rot.

Completely framed, wired, plumed, roofed, HVAC install, sheetrock hung, by me no contractors used except for the concrete and brick laying. I also built the kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities; my final cost was just over 70K invested in the house including the 3 acres it is on.

  12. The one where i live right now. Safe, in the outskirts of a beautiful forest, and very limited sound and annoyance of any kind

  13. Mountain house that looks like a geode. (Ugly exterior, gorgeous interior.) Basically the exterior looks like it could be an old dilapidated barn, the grey pine wood siding, rusted out roof, but by design, not by neglect. Then the interior is Italian villa. Library/ office, kitchen with enough room for my wife and I to both cook, dining room for family gathering, living room with a glass wall looking out on the mountain view, and a master bedroom fit for a king.

Or something like that, I haven’t put much thought into it.

  14. I don’t really want a house. I’m not excited to do maintainence and such. My dream is to retire in a tiny little apartment somewhere in the rural area of Japan. It’s cheap, clean, and just enough space just for me. If I ever get a family, maybe that’ll change, but as of right now. A tiny little apartment is enough for me 🙂

  15. My literal dream house (as in the one I find myself in whenever I dream), is at the end of a T shaped street, its a fairly normal looking 2 story house with a bit of privacy.

But in my bedroom closet, there is a small trapdoor in the ceiling that I can climb into which leads to a nice cozy private/secret room, there is a comfy bed, surrounded by bookshelves on the wall, a small warm light, and a circular window that is smack dab in the middle of the wall so I can peer out and watch people/cars as they pass on by while I just relax.

  16. Own it, its an 1890’s Victorian. Not much mowing, 2 car garage, excellent neighbors.

  17. A nano-tech house that can reconstruct itself from the ground up, alter its rooms, and teleport from location to location.

  18. 3-4 bedrooms so I can have an office plus room for guests. A dining room big enough to play D&D in. A separate room big enough for both board games and video games, with a nice big TV for movies and stuff. Enough yard for a small garden, but not much more than that. Not on a hill, but not somewhere prone to flooding. Decent-size kitchen. Either in or not too far from the city.

  19. There’s no dream. Can’t buy one. Im a millennial who just rents from the genxers. If given unlimited money , dream would just be a serviced apartment ment.

  20. Dream house ! A big farm where I can hunt and frontage on an all sports lake.

640 acres farm fields and woods with 3000 feet on a big ass all sports lake.

Big old brick farm house pre 1960s.

  21. It has a full shop as a garage and storage for at least 20 cars.

And there is no fucking grass. Fuck your stupid ass lawns.

Honestly The Drift Mansion would be pretty dope to own but the house could be smaller.

  22. In the woods, built on the edge of a cliff, overlooking something scenic like the Columbia River Gorge in Washington/Oregon. It would be south facing and be basically all windows on the south side. On the north side it would remain as wooded as possible with many acres (100+) between me and my next neighbor. Probably would be full of outbuildings, trails, etc.

  23. Enchanted stone storybook house both huge and cozy built out over a river where parts of the foundation are in the water and the rest is amidst forest hills with an amazing “forest” yard and natural dark indigo pools. Psychedelic Harry Potter Rivendell house meets old school River Country at WDW. Lots of River jet ski’s ready to go. The yard, forest and house are natural extensions of the other. Timeless and sick.

  24. If I am alone, it can’t be huge. Major horror film vibes would surface. If I had a family, for a baseline reference, I’d say a medium-sized home in a quiet gated community with an abundance of trees. I imagine a relatively mountainous forest like neighborhood, with plenty of laid-back neighbors. Though, if that forest atmosphere came with potential bears, big cats, or wolves, it’s a no go. There must be a Steinway piano and a yard for the dogs. Perfection.

  25. A one bedroom condo and a balcony with a sick ass skyline view. Harvey Specter style from suits

  26. As far as attainable someday? Literally just want a nice shop and a nice kitchen out of town. If I won the lottery? All that with a bowling alley, pool tables, arcade, 6 figure sound system.

  27. Something with either a lake or river running through it, but also within walking distance to a bar

  28. So, something that looks smaller when people pull up than it actually is; i don’t want my perfect house to be intimidating when guests arrive. A big back lawn that is fenced in, for any dogs I have can run around in. Preferably a small front lawn as I see no reason to have a big one and the bigger they are the more of a pain in the butt to upkeep.

I’m a professional chef, so A kitchen with plenty of windows to let in fresh light, a large induction stove, giant powerful hood vents, 1 regular oven, 1 combi oven, 1 alto-shaam, 2 dish machines, double sink, wine cooler, a stand alone full size freezer, and a large fridge. Stainless steel counter tops and appliances throughout the kitchen. White painted wood cabinets with some windows in the spots I store fancier looking items. Vintage tile backsplash. A casual place to eat right near the stove for a handful of people, and then a large wooden dining room table. A pantry very close to the cooking action that has a lot of counter space that would allow me to keep a lot of small appliances nearby but out of general sight. Also obviously lots of dry food storage. Lots of cabinet space obviously. Heated tile floors as well.

A living room connected to the kitchen with no walls between them. And then in the far wall, where someone can see that is actively cooking, a giant TV. 3 very comfortable couches surrounding a nice wooden table to place drinks or play board games on and a beautiful large fireplace on the forth side of the table and Starry Night on the wall above the fireplace. We’ll tell guests it’s a replica even though it’s not. And 2 half bathrooms connected to the living room.

My master bedroom has 2 entrances. The first is connected to the pantry that’s connected to the kitchen, so I can quickly make myself coffee in the morning with minimum walking and also just easily get to the kitchen if I want to. The Mona Lisa on the wall opposite my bed when I wake up I can just stay in bed and stare at it for a little bit if I want to. 2 large walk in closets obviously. Large king size bed. A master bathroom with heated tile floors, large bathtub I can comfortably lie in, separate shower, all other normal stuff.

3 more bedrooms with bathrooms for guests.

a computer room with we’ll say 8 massively power computers. 1 for me, and the rest for any friends that show up and want to play anything with me. On One of the walls, a handful of TVs with every current and former game console connected to them. and a couple couches lined up with the TVs.

Finally to pay for everything I’ll ever need a collection of gold that Rivals the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in the basement.
