Was it an impulsive decision? Was it planned? Did you initially study/get a degree for something completely different to your current career?

  1. I discussed it for several months with my (now ex) husband, ran the numbers to see how long before we would break even/be better off (lol), studied for my entrance exam… After a certain point I just committed to it. When all the plans fell apart, I kept going. Lost my marriage (good riddance to bad rubbish), ended up moving to the city I’ve been dreaming of living in for a decade, and enjoying my life for the first time in years. The decision wasn’t impulsive, but it wasn’t a financial slam dunk (even before the divorce and Covid). I’m lucky that I have found a way to integrate my first career into the work that I am doing now. I think the reason it worked out was because it was something I really, really wanted to do. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t have made it and it wouldn’t have been worth the cost.
