I’m 21 years old and have no idea where to get inspiration for clothes let alone where to buy them. I shop at H&M I guess, but I don’t really know how to put stuff together. I think I like a more casual look. If you guys have any tips or ideas, let me know.

  1. My man, kohl’s target, hell do you have a Duluth trading company by you they’re expensive but good.

  2. I don’t try too hard most of the time. If I really feel like I need to put an outfit together I might do a couple google searches. I find macys to be pretty reliable. It depends a lot on what look you’re going for.

  3. TJ Maxx and Ross Dress for less have always been my go to places, and I just kind of piece together outfits from what’s available. Those are discounted stores that buy extra stock from chains that they need to get their money back on, then TJ/Ross sells it under msrp. So you’re kind of working with what’s in stock, but you can find name brand stuff like Converse for $30 off what you’d pay at a regular store.

  4. Not really my style. Even if that’s your main clothing style, it’s still important to have some workman clothes. Just do a search for Carhartt in your area. The store should also sell Dickies and Ben Davis. If those 3 brands are all there, there will be others along those lines.

When you need clothes to work on things, to fix things, to get grubby, it’s best to have them in advance. Pick up a pair of pants and a couple shirts.

Or don’t, I’m not the boss of you. I just think it’s useful to have, and nobody wants to go change a tire in dress slacks.

  5. Alo/lulu is nice for athletic wear

All saints, John Elliott, stussy, palace, stone island are decent for a little bit more fashion street

  6. Check out dappered.com. They regularly post style “scenarios” like summer casual wear or wedding attire. They’ll show an outfit with links to the items and regularly post sales. If nothing else, you might find some guidance or inspiration there.

As others have mentioned the discount stores like Ross, Marshalls, etc. Are good places to start if you want to try things out without spending a bunch.

  7. DXL. I’m big AND tall, and while it’s a bit pricey, their stuff is really good and I’ll happily pay $65 for a single shirt that lasts me 5 years

  8. local thrift stores its cheap. many of their clothing was worn maybe a few times then sold. a lot of the time the original tag is on it saying its price was 60 or 80 dollar, meanwhile the thrift store sticker says 8 dollar.

  9. Goodwill. Random little stores. Uniforms from jobs I’ve had. Bought clothes right off of other men’s backs. Most of my jeans are from Levi’s, most of my athletic wear is from Nike. Most of my shoes are sneakers. But outside if that. Anywhere I see something I feel I’d look good in.

  10. I’m 22 and I usually get my clothes either from a thrift store, from grab boxes at my dorm, or any manner of online stores.

  11. I get basics from Next, but the clothes i actually like, i buy from MXDVS, G*59 Merchandise, thats actually about it now. Once i found my own style i found the brands i like to shop from.

  12. H&M clothes are garbage. The same with Old Navy. If you like the look of khakis and and a button shirt try your local department store. They have quality brands.

If you need an opinion and casually know some girl ask her to come along and advise you. They never turn down a chance to shop even if it is for someone else.

  13. Dark indigo Levis jeans every day, Calvin Klein tee shirts on casual days, fitted dress shirts from various online tailors when I get dressed up

  14. I get a lot of my stuff from REI. I enjoy the outdoors but wouldn’t consider myself a hardcore outdoorsman, I just like clothes that are comfortable and durable. Have a few pairs of hiking pants that double as work pants, have some lightweight camping shirts that double as dress shirts. I also shop at TJ Max, Marshall’s, and Nordstrom Rack, can often find name brand stuff at a good price, especially underwear and jeans.

  15. I use the idea of uniform. For casual days I will wear dark wash Levi’s pants with either a Henley or Oxford shirt. If I need to dress up I have about 5 pairs of stretch chinos in a couple of colors. I can wear those with the Oxford shirts or some nicer button downs. A pair of desert boots works with jeans and chinos.

I always went with quality over quantity even when money was tight. You could have a nice wardrobe and only need to get 15-25 pieces of clothing.
