I agree that in order to acquire social skills I need to put myself more in social situations (which I’m trying to do despite my social anxiety). But where else can I learn social skills to then apply them in those situations? Can you suggest any book/ whatever type of content which can help? Does therapy work for this purpose?

  1. Find a character that you admire. Real or ficton. Pick what you like about that character and amplify it. Of course, you should always stay true to yourself, so don’t go overboard. That’s why the character should be a reflection of who you are/ who you want to be.

We often find what we most like about ourselves through others.

  2. Therapy can work for lessening your anxiety with medication or by talking about what causes the anxiety to begin with. Try realistic fiction books to see how the author describes different interactions <- don’t use the characters as your way of speaking, use how the author “talks” in the book, usually characters act as a mirror of the author. Maybe try podcast with a large group that way you can see how they bounce off each other. Try to be funny so you’re entertaining and engaging to the people you do interact with.
