I (32F) have been with my bf (37M) for 9 years now. I’ve recently hit a new low. I’m on sick leave because I burnt out from depression. I’m off work for a month left but have been off for at least 3 months. During this time I’ve not been able to do many daily tasks (I.e cooking, cleaning). My bf gets extremely frustrated and although he’s generally a nice person, he doesn’t seem to understand that I need support right now rather than feeling his angry energy all day. I don’t know how to make him better understand depression and what I’m going through right now. Any tips?

TL;DR My boyfriend doesn’t understand what depression feels like when you burn out how can I help him understand?

  1. How much is he educated on the subject? How does he usually treat you when this happens? Have you communicated with him? Tried to offer some literature offer some kind of reference he could consult to get a better idea of what you’re going through? Personally, I think this is something that he should initiate…
