I have a sister who met this guy while moving out of the state we were living in. They connected after meeting two times. I guess the connection was real because he said he wants to get married in the next two months to her (also he is not a US citizen). Do you guys think this is a good setup or is this too quick? I know back in the day people would marry extremely quickly.

  1. I don’t think this is a good idea. But you know what? It doesn’t matter what I think. Nor does it matter what you think. If she wants to do that ; it’s her choice and I wish her the best – as should you. She’s an adult and can make her own choices. What she’s doing isn’t evil or harming anyone necessarily. So I think you should give her your full sisterly support on this one. Sometimes, it’s just a visa thing. Other times it’s true love. You just can’t tell from the outside. Even if it’s just a visa thing that doesn’t make it necessarily horrible. It can be a good deed to help someone into the country if they come from a worse country and you care about them deeply

  2. I feel it’s too fast and kinda suspicious. Can she decide the marriage herself or she needs to introduce him to you and the family ? If it’s the latter, at least you guys can talk to him till you are satisfied that he really knows a lot about her just from the 2 meets and is serious with her or there’s something else. Even if he is serious, I’d suggest them to give the relationship some time (maybe a year or two) and see how it goes. It will be bad if they have problems after having kids. Unless they talked about all these life changing moment during the 2 meets.

  3. I think it’s dumb af, but no one can tell her what to do if she’s put her mind to it. And pushing back against them only pushes her further into rushing everything.

Just be there for her if and when reality comes crashing down on them and everything isn’t all peaches and roses.

  4. Maybe make sure he’s just not using her for papers. I come from an immigrant family myself and I feel like that happens more than we think
