I am part of a small town game team where we play tournaments every month during summer. This year we decided to get jersey for our team I was actively participating in jersey design, enrolled team members name and #. we placed order from a country across the globe, meanwhile things got serious and the team set goal of winning next tournament and started picking up/working on skill set, team ended up adding new team members/better players as well. My performance didn’t improve and I did decide to keep myself away as I realised I will not be able to meet the teams’ expectation and not to be hurdle for the teams’ goal of winning the next tournament. Also there are times I felt totally disconnected as I was not given much opportunities and I respect it as a team’s decision. I start focusing on my personal work, skipped matches and very rarely reply on the group chat messages. Since the jerseys were ordered earlier the new team members who joined later were not on the list of jersey since the jersey had players name and number. This week the jersey arrived and I was not able to collect it and thought of collecting within a week and I did communicate to one of the team member that I will collect it when i get time. 2 days after these happened team goes into a tournament with everyone wearing the team jersey. Since i was tracking the score online I thought I will go and say ‘Hi’ and cheer them up. When I went there I saw one of the player wearing my jersey and was really disappointed. Now I have seen my jersey was worn/used I don’t feel like ‘its mine’ and I usually never wear someone’s clothes/ buy used clothes. Please note the team yet to collect the money (shipping + cost of jersey) for the jersey will start collecting from next week.
Now this has been bothering me the whole day and lots of thoughts running in my mind. Suggestions needed on how should I react now.

p.s: I have been disappointed with team on the way its been handled or hurting players in the name of jokes and feedback/critics

  1. I’m sorry you’ve been hurt, but I don’t think they did anything wrong, the new players didn’t have their own jerseys so if they played without jerseys, that would look kind of unprofessional, and you said they wanted to be more serious, or they gave your shirt to the other player, most people probably would understand, but they should’ve asked you first.

You could ask the player if they want to buy it from you and make adjustments, change the name, etc? In general, I feel like it would look bad if you fought over it.

You’re better off without them, then.
