It’s not my situation anymore, but … it was the “crabs in a bucket” thing. They were single and divorced people who didn’t have much interest in growing themselves. Getting drunk at the same old places, talking about the same old things, dating out of the same social circles (and later, apps) they’d used for years. It’s been a long time since we’ve heard from a lot of them, but most still don’t seem to be much different now.
