Gonna be straight up it suckssss especially if they are your partner in crime child. Daughter has been going for 3 years now and it still sucks. Daily calls, FaceTime, etc help tho even if you don’t even have a topic. Luckily she’s only about 7 hours away and when schedules permit can make the trip.
It’s normal to be more emotional or afraid than the kid is. It’s exciting and fun for them, but for you it’s just scary.
My daughter attended a state school four hours away. I loved going out to visit for football weekends. I would set up a tailgate for her friends and cook up some grub.
Not there yet, but close. Can not wait for that burden to be out of the house.
