I’m in my 20s and my communication skills has always been below average for my age. I’ve struggled with developing my vocabulary, sentence structure, and just overall articulating my thoughts. I’m very insecure with how I speak because I sound young and dumb. I took communication classes in college but those classes never helped much and it mainly focused on writing and giving speeches.

I tend to struggle in a few areas:

-processing and understanding what is being said to me

-spontaneous speech

-slight stutter

-lack of confidence

-limited vocabulary

-poor sentence structure (forgetting/omitting words)

I have expressed my concerns since I was in high school. Everybody thought I was exaggerating or thought I would naturally improve with age. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

Anybody have any tips on how to improve? Are there any resources I should look into?

  1. At the moment, I’m using ChatGPT to learn about language (more specifically, about dialects). Besides that, I read a lot of books – books with questions, using boundaries, and all that jazz. For ChatGPT, you can use YouTube to self-teach you.
